Piazzale Roma, the main entry to the City

Piazzale Roma is the main access to Venice for those who arrive from inland with vehicles both public and private, affected in last years by works on the general urban arrangement of the area. The main building overlooking the square is the Municipal Garage: since May 2009 a 13x11m billboard is installed on its façade, with the aim to expose big size advertising banners together with an explanatory sheet about the projects by the Municipality of Venice about the city plan.

Visibility of the location

Piazzale Roma s one of the main gateways to the city for more than 22 million visitors a year: an average of about 50,000 people a day, with peaks of over 100,000 for special events such as the Carnival or the Venice Film Festival.
Piazzale Roma is home to the car parks closest to the city center (6 parks, including the Municipal Garage, with 6 floors, 2,284 spaces and 290 motorcycle spaces), and it is the terminal for all routes of bus public transport. It is also a major destination for navigation public transport..
With the recent opening of the fourth bridge over the Grand Canal, Piazzale Roma is now easily reachable from the train station.
